Planning an RV trip through Texas hill country? Stop at one of these resorts!

90 new campgrounds, RV parks and resorts, and more than 18,000 campsites in both new and existing parks are expected to come online over the next 3 years, according to a recent report in RVBusiness.com.

One area of the country that has seen significant construction of new RV resorts is the Texas Hill Country, where at least 7 RV resorts have been built in recent years. Many of these new parks have upscale amenities, with some being aimed at families while others cater to adults. Here are descriptions of some of the Texas Hill Country’s newest RV resorts:

  • Camp Fimfo Texas Hill Country in New Braunfels: This RV resort, developed by Grand Rapids, Michigan-based Northgate Resorts, which owns and operates 28 campgrounds in 14 states.  Camp Fimfo opened in July of 2021 with 250 RV sites, including Red Carpet RV sites; more than 200 cabins, 18 of which are treetop cabins; and 60 tent sites. Park amenities include a resort-style swimming pool with a swim-up bar, an interactive water playground, an 18-hole miniature golf course, pickleball courts. This campground, which borders the Guadalupe River, is also the first in Texas to offer an alpine coaster, called The Cliff Carver, a gravity-propelled sled that includes manual brakes, so riders can control their speed down the track. The track bobs and weaves for nearly 1 mile down a hill, offering stunning views of Texas Hill Country along the way. Riders can zoom down the mountain at speeds up to 25 miles per hour or take a slower if they wish. The park also has a fully stocked general store, an on-site bar, and dining options.

  • Canopy RV Resort in New Braunfels: This park complements its 295 RV sites with high-speed ethernet at each pedestal. Amenities include a resort-style swimming pool with a sun deck and shaded area with chaise lounges. The pool also has a water feature for children. The resort also has expansive green areas and 2 shaded dog parks with separate areas for large and small dogs. Other amenities include 2 lighted pickleball courts. They also serve free coffee every day and donuts on Saturdays.
