AN ISLAND THANKSGIVING

Holiday traditions are an important part of our family life. One of our traditions over the Thanksgiving holiday is adventuring to the San Juan Islands of Washington State. Our destination? West Beach Resort on Orcas Island.

We arrive at the Anacortes Ferry Landing just as the sun begins to rise. We are serious early birds this morning and our wait time in line is minimal before our ferry arrives.   While we wait, we take our pup Oliver for a walk and chat with other people who too are waiting for the ferry. It’s a beautiful morning and we are so excited to be on this trip.

LOVELY LEAVENWORTH IN WASHINGTON STATE

It really has been forever and a day since we’ve made the trip to Leavenworth here in Washington State. The last time we visited was in winter, years ago, so to be able to experience summer here was exciting for us.

Here is the view from the inside of our trailer looking out – I’m sorry we are not there right now. What a beautiful spot it was.

We stayed in Talkeetna Camper Park, a short walk from downtown Talkeetna.

talkeetna-collage-alaskaTalkeetna is a small town off the Parks Highway. It’s a hub for adventures with many sight seeing, river rafting, and zip lining companies based in town. Most climbing expeditions to Mount McKinley (Denali) begin here.

THIS WINTER, FALL IN LOVE WITH SEDONA, ARIZONA

Sedona copy 2

It’s been an especially cold winter so far, and after subzero temperatures in many parts of the U.S., plenty of RVers have decided to head South (or stay South). If you’re looking for a place where you can escape the grip of the “polar vortex” but aren’t quite ready for the summer heat, prepare to fall in love with Sedona, Arizona, often called “a traveler’s oasis in the middle of the desert”.
