COOK UP SOME ADVENTURE: BEST APPLIANCES FOR YOUR RV KITCHEN

I’m at once a homebody and an adventurer. Can you relate? Nothing fits these dual sides of the adventurous homebody better than an RV. Wheels to satisfy the wanderlust and all the comforts of home while out on the road. Perfection.

My husband, Brent, and I both enjoy cooking and we find that meals together as a family complete our RV travels. During our 13+ years of RV ownership, more than four of those spent as full time RVers, we’ve experimented with a number of space and propane saving appliances. We are happy to share with you what we’ve found to be the best appliances for the RV kitchen.

SOLAR ECLIPSE 2017

Our RV trip planning can take so many different forms including national parks, experiencing the magic of Disney, a beach vacation or a simple weekend getaway. No matter the trip, we always try to work in a little bit of homeschooling education. We’re not always successful but you have to try, don’t you? When I first learned of the full solar eclipse, I knew I had to be there to see it in person. I knew this would be a different kind of trip, having grown up kind of a science geek, and wanting to be an astronaut.

OUR RV, OUR ADVENTURE BASE CAMP

Our RV, which we call “Lance,” is small.

Some of our family and friends don’t get it. When they learn we could have bought an RV 3 times as big for the same price, we get asked, “are you crazy??!!

But honestly, we prefer the simplicity of a small motorhome. It’s small enough that we’ve been forced to get rid of everything unnecessary and just travel with the basics. That alone is a pretty liberating feeling.

Besides, we didn’t get an RV to get IN there, we got an RV to get OUT there. We’re hikers and bikers and winter adventure lovers, so Lance is a convenient basecamp for all our outdoor pursuits.  Some of those places are pretty remote, and an RV any bigger than a campervan can’t always make the trek.

Here’s a look at three of our recent outdoor activities where Lance became the perfect adventure basecamp.

LOOK BACK ON THE JOURNEY

As we have started a new year, I find myself hopeful and expectant. Word on the street is 2016 was a rough year for many of us. I have found myself almost wanting to dismiss the year in its entirety, but I know better. Even in the hardest of seasons, there are still beautiful moments. I have been spending time going back and seeing all those moments that I have to be grateful for.

One of my favorite things about 2016 is the RV trip I got take with my family. It’s no secret that my family loves to explore which is why we get out often and enjoy taking long road trips. Being that my husband and I are both from Alaska, nature is something we love and cherish. It’s a love we always knew we wanted to pass on to our children and we are blessed to be able to live in such a beautiful part of the country.
