SPRING TWITTER PARTY

It’s Almost Spring; Let’s Talk RVing! Join Our Twitter Party and Win!

by Stefany Adinaro

Can you feel it, gang?!?! Spring is in the air!

With RV season just gearing up, James and I would like to invite you to join us on our upcoming Twitter Party, Thursday April 27th at 9pm EST (6pm Pacific) for some great conversations about hitting the road this spring.

We’ll chat about things like trip planning, getting the rig prepped for the road, and we’ll even collectively brainstorm some top bucket-list RV destinations.

And Did I Mention Prizes?!?

There will be two prize packs given out over the course of the hour. Each prize pack will include a $25 gift card AND some cool Go RVing swag…just for partying with us! (Prizing is open to U.S. residents only, sorry!)

Just What is a Twitter Party?

If you’ve never participated in a Twitter party before, it’s pretty simple and great fun. Think of it like sitting around a campfire and having a conversation with a bunch of friends, only it’s a cyber-campfire, so less pressure!

You’ll log in to your Twitter account at the designated party time. Make sure you’ve already “followed” our Twitter page @TheFitRV. We’ll be tweeting open-ended questions throughout the hour that always begin with “Q1, Q2, Q3… etc.”, and you respond with your own thoughts and suggestions by starting your tweet with “A1, A2, A3…etc.” Plus, you’ll always include the hashtag #GoRVing in your post…that’s super important since it’s the only way we can see your responses.

The key to participating in a Twitter party is following a specific hashtag. Our hashtag for this party is #GoRVing. All party posts will always include this hashtag, even the ones you post. That way, you can easily search the hashtag up in the Twitter search bar (then choose the “Latest” tab) and you’ll be able to see everyone’s responses, not just the hosts’.

The two prize packs are awarded at random, but here’s a key tip: Consider each of your “A” tweets as well as your replies to other partiers as an entry for the prizes. So the more you interact, the better your chances of winning a prize!

Sounds Great! How Do I Join?

To participate and be eligible for prizes, just follow these steps:

  1. Follow The Fit RV and Go RVing on Twitter.
  2. RSVP in the comments below by entering your Twitter handle.
  3. Show up for the party at 9pm EST, which will be hosted on @TheFitRV homepage. Remember to “refresh” frequently during the party so you won’t miss any of the “Q”s!
  4. Respond to our topics by starting your own tweet with “A1, A2, etc” (and also reply to other partiers’ responses) always making sure to use the #GoRVing hashtag in each tweet or reply.
  5. Pay attention to our announcements of winners throughout the hour! If your name comes up, we’ll have you message the Prize Patrol to arrange to collect your prizes.

It’s as easy as that. Can’t wait to chat with you at the party, gang! See you there!

WHAT’S SO SUPER ABOUT THE FLORIDA RV SUPERSHOW? PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING.

Winter is traditionally considered RV show season, and right now there are hundreds of these popular consumer events taking place around the United States. The shows allow shoppers to explore a wide range of RV floor plans, price points, and industry trends. Many shows also offer educational seminars, food, and entertainment.

Local RV shows are a great way to spend a Saturday, especially if you are searching for your first RV or thinking about trading up to your next rig. However, if you want to experience the RV show of the year, then you better reserve some vacation time next January and head down to Tampa, Florida.

LOUISVILLE LEARNINGS: HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE NATIONAL RV TRADE SHOW

Our friends from RVFTA, RV Education 101, and The Fit RV

RV Types and RV Ownership – A Diverse Marketplace

Every year when I attend the RVIA National RV Trade Show in Louisville, Kentucky I look at current trends that are driving and shaping the future of the RV industry.  By the time I leave the show I come away with renewed excitement about the upcoming camping season and traveling in our RV.

For the past several years I noticed some trends at the show included smaller, lighter and more fuel efficient RVs. They also have more advanced electronics and technology to address the wants and expectations of a future generation of RVers.

This year I didn’t want to “miss the forest for the trees” as the saying goes. In my opinion RV manufacturers do a great job building RVs to meet a diverse buying marketplace. RV manufacturers not only build numerous types of RVs to meet the consumer’s wants and needs; they also offer RVs at various price points to fit different RV buyer’s budgets.

NAARVA RALLY

There are many RV membership clubs out there, like Escapees, Thousand Trails or FMCA. I had a chance to attend a rally of one such membership club you probably have never heard about, NAARVA.

NAARVA stands for National African American RV Association. It was founded in 1993 and boasts a membership of more than 1,400 members. African-American RVers face many challenges and NAARVA aims to be a resource to solve some of those issues. I had looked into NAARVA a few years ago when we first started RVing and at that time I didn’t see any young families as members. So I moved on. However, this time I had a chance to find out if we were missing something special.

From the moment I pulled into Gulf Shores State Park, I knew things were different. Typically when we travel as a family in our RV, we are extremely lucky if we aren’t the only African-Americans in the entire campground. As we pulled up, two NAARVA volunteers greeted us. They quickly checked us in and showed us to our site. Throughout the drive to our site we were greeted with smiles and waves from all the other NAARVA campers. Talk about feeling welcome! I had to rub my eyes; it seemed at every site there was another African-American RVer. With over 240 RVs attending this event, NAARVA’s presence was certainly evident.
